Ms. Julie is the General Music Teacher and LJES Concert Choir Director here at our Fabulous school(#2 in the whole state of California!!!), La Jolla Elementary.

LJES Music Teacher, Ms. Julie, will be offering a fun-filled, Musical Theatre experience. Ms. Julie began her on-stage career as a singer and actress at age 10, and had performed in many, many different Musical Theatre productions from San Francisco to San Diego, since 1965. In addition to her many years as a performer, Ms. Julie has taught at over 25 schools and 6 school districts in San Diego County. She works independently as a children's theatre Casting Director, as a private Vocal Coach, as a theatrical director for children's theatre, as a Vocal Director, and as a Master Teaching Artist - training other teaching artists and enrichment teachers to teach Music. She is currently the Music Director for San Diego's Kroc Kids.

In this class, students will produce a musical play, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DORKS, A FRACTURED TALE OF FICTIONAL FRIENDS, with a culminating performance for guests. Our showcase performance will feature solos, duets, group songs, movement, acting, and include stagecraft. Young performers will learn poise and confidence on-stage, diction, comic timing, acting techniques, singing with better pitch and rhythm, how to project their voices, and working with costumes. Costume pieces will be provided.

Roles include: Snow White, all seven Dorks, Cinderella and her two Step-Sisters and Step-Mother, Sleeping Beauty, a prince or two, the three bears, Goldilocks, the three pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and her Grandmother, the Wolf, Evil Queen, the Mirror(on the wall), huntsmen/women, Knights, Trees, various woodland animals, and perhaps Jack and his growing beanstalk!

Class is open to LJES students currently in grades 2-5. Cast size limited to 50, no experience necessary.

Additionally, 10-15 students may ALSO choose to help artistically design and paint the sets, in a great opportunity to learn some theatrical stagecraft. Students interested in working with the set will also meet with teacher on Thursday afternoons from 3-4pm, dates to be arranged. All materials will be provided. No extra fee for the stagecraft activities, simply provide your own painting clothes/aprons!

Class meets Wednesdays 12:45-3pm from 03/06/19 - 06/05/19 *12 sessions (no classes 03/18 - 03/29 due to conference week and Spring Break). Dates for class rehearsals: 3/6, 3/13, 4/3, 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29 and ending on 6/5.
