Musical Troupe Spring 2020 - "Fiddler on the Roof, Jr."

Experience performing in the musical, "Fiddler on the Roof" with your friends! This one-hour long official version of the famous show will shine forever in a young performers heart! Based on stories by acclaimed author, Sholem Aleichem, this show is hallmark of Broadway history! It ran for over 10 years on Broadway and won 9 Tony Awards. It is a bitter-sweet tale of a father and his family that handle hardships with humor and faces the challenge of changing times and traditionswith grace and humility.

In this class, students will produce and perform in the musical play, "Fiddler on the Roof" with a culminating performance for guests. Our performance will feature solos, duets, group songs, movement, acting, and include stagecraft. Young performers will learn poise and confidence on-stage, diction, comic timing, acting techniques, singing with better pitch and rhythm, how to project their voices, working with costumes, as well as learning a true classic of the American Musical Theatre stage. Costume pieces will be provided.

Class is open to LJES students currently in grades 2-5. Cast size limited to 36 registered students, no experience necessary. Enrollment will be open until class limit is reached. Contact Ms. Julie to find out if there will be a wait list once the class limit has been reached.

Additionally, 10-15 students may ALSO choose to help artistically design and paint the sets, in a great opportunity to learn some theatrical stagecraft. Students interested in working with the set will also meet with teacher on Thursday afternoons from 3-4pm, dates to be arranged. All materials will be provided. No extra fee for the stagecraft activities, simply provide your own painting clothes/aprons!

Class meets Wednesdays 12:45-3pm from 3/11/20 to 5/29/20 *11 sessions. Dates for class rehearsals: 3/11, 3/18, (no 3/25), 4/8, 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, (plus Sunday, May 17th Pizza Party 9am-2pm), 5/20, 5/27, and ending on Friday 5/29/2020 with a performance at 6pm in the Auditorium. Additional rehearsals may be added by arrangement with specific characters.
