Musical Troupe Summer Music and Dance Camps 2020

About this Item

Three days each week, I work at LJES with TK-5th grade students in our Music Enrichment Program during the school day. But, I also offer some really fun classes after school and in the summer to inspire the creative spark in our students!

During the regular school year, I offer Wednesday Afternoon Musical Theatre Classes, where students put on a show that we rehearse for 12 weeks with two performances. In my Summer Camps, we work more on popular music, mic work, we study the classic American Broadway Musical and expand our Dance experiences.

The summer program is a fun filled, fast-paced program designed to let students work on projects we don't or can't do in school enrichment classes or in the Wednesday Afternoon Musical Troupe Shows. We had so much fun in camps last year, I just can't wait to get it started again! After all, if Music and Theatre aren't the most fun things ever, what is the world coming to?

If you'd like more details, below is more info about me and the programs I provide through Skooltopia.
Ms. Julie began her on-stage career as a singer and actress at age 10, and had performed in many, many different Musical Theatre productions from San Francisco to San Diego, since 1965. In addition to her many years as a performer, Ms. Julie has taught at over 25 schools and 6 school districts in San Diego County. She works independently as a children's theatre Casting Director, as a private Vocal Coach, as a Theatrical Director for children's theatre, as a Vocal Director, and as a Master Teaching Artist - training other teaching artists and enrichment teachers to teach Music. She is currently the Music Director for San Diego's Kroc Kids. 2020 will be Julie's 12th year here at LJES!

In this program, students produce a musical play. This past year we produce two, THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES, and SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DORKS, A FRACTURED TALE OF FICTIONAL FRIENDS, with a culminating performances for guests. Our performances featured solos, duets, group songs, movement, acting, and included stagecraft. Young performers worked on poise and confidence on-stage, diction, comic timing, acting techniques, singing with better pitch and rhythm, how to project their voices, and working with costumes. Costume pieces are provided by Ms. Julie. In the stagecraft portion of this project, Ms. Devine guided our own students to design and create all the scenery for our show!

Join Ms. Julie Greathouse and Friends for a fun filled, all-day one-week MUSIC and DANCE camp, featuring the student’s choice of POPULAR MUSIC in solos, duets, group songs and dances. Semi-private vocal coaching and dance instruction will be included! Make your own music video routine with your friends! Work on next year's Talent Show Routine! This camp give students a chance to work on projects we can't do in music class or in the after-school program.
