Social Media and Marketing Intern

We are looking for an intern to assist with our social media and marketing efforts. This internship supports Skooltopia a San Diego based technology startup. Skooltopia is an eCommerce platform that enables a fundraising marketplace for schools. Our goal is to inspire and grow local business and fund raise for our children’s schools. You will learn the ins and outs of our business and assist in development and implementation of our social media, marketing and customer acquisition projects. The position is a non-paid, part-time internship and can be credit based with a time commitment of 14 hours per week. Duties: • Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing strategies and tactics for Skooltopia. • Assist in the development and implementation of referral partner program. • Perform social media market research. • Measure and document the impact of social media on our business, and then suggest action-steps to increase impact. • Assist in marketing and public relations projects with buyers, vendors, partners, and schools. • Maintain good client relations through professionalism in all functions of customer service. • Contribute to Skooltopia’s website, blog, Facebook and Twitter pages.
Qualification, Attributes, Experience: • College student majoring in marketing, business, advertising or communications desired • Experience with all aspects of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Vimeo, Tumblr, Pinterest, YouTube, blogs etc.) on at least a personal level. Use on a business level preferred. • Think strategically and see how social media fits into a business’ marketing strategy, not just “selling” to our customers, but building long-lasting relationships by providing value to them. • Organized, detail oriented with the ability to multi-task • Strong verbal and written skills. • Excellent proofreading and editing skills • Ability to communicate and maintain a professional demeanor • Strong work ethic and positive attitude • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite • Excellent critical thinking skills • Creative with an eye for design • Energy, with a desire to come up with fresh ideas on how to increase user engagement
